Rhett joined Troop 17 in August of 1995 after receiving his Arrow of Light from Cub Pack 499 at Spoede School. His first opportunity for leadership was as a Den Chief for Pack 499 earning him the troop’s Cub Service Award. Following that, he then served as the Assistant Patrol Leader of the Hawk and Eagle Patrols. Upon completing the St. Louis Area Council’s Junior Leader Training Camping the summer of 1997, Rhett moved up to the patrol leader of the Eagle Patrol where he served for over two years. During that time, his patrol finished 2nd overall among all the many patrols at the spring 1998 Pathfinder District Camporee. Rhett’s next responsibilities had him serving for a year as the troop quartermaster.

In the summer of 2000, Rhett was part of Troop Seventeen’s ten-Scout contingent to Philmont — BSA’s national high-adventure camp in the mountains of New Mexico. He has also been an honor camper twice and has earned the troop’s Field Service Award for his extensive participation in the troop’s outdoor program.

In 1998, Rhett was elected by his fellow Scouts at summer camp to the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s national society for honor campers, and in 2000 he was the troop’s OA representative.

Rhett is also a member of the Bakers, Troop Seventeen’s unique older boy’s organization.

For his Eagle service project, Rhett enlisted several Scouts to help him design, build and install several bird houses for the Bierne Park in Creve Coeur.

Where Rhett has really distinguished himself is as an athlete. A nine-time letter recipient, Rhett has lettered in wrestling, football, baseball, and golf at both Ladue High and Wentworth Military Academy. Rhett was all conference in wrestling for three years and in his senior year was an all-conference football wide receiver. His senior year Rhett was captain of both the wrestling and football teams.

In his senior year at high school he made the academic excellence honor roll with a 3.6 GPA along with earning the National English Merit Award.

At Wentworth, Rhett was ranked E-6 Staff Sergeant – Corps of Cadets – in charge of twelve other cadets after only one semester, an unusual achievement for a recent arrival.

Rhett has been known as an active, energetic, and friendly scout whose hobbies include fishing, hiking, and rock climbing. He is currently attending University of Missouri-Columbia where he is majoring in international business and is active in the Naval ROTC. After graduation, Rhett plans to serve in the U.S. Navy and become a Navy SEAL.
