Daniel joined Troop 17 in May of 1996 after receiving his Arrow of Light from the Cub Pack at Beasley School.

After attending the Council’s Junior Leader Training Camp 1998, and then serving as a Den chief for Pack 495 for two years, Daniel became the Patrol Leader of the Eagle Patrol and then served admirably as the Troop’s Assistant Senior Patrol Leader – each for over a year.

Daniel’s outdoors activities included attending seven years of the Troop’s annual summer camp and hiking Philmont in 2000. That same year, Daniel was also elected by his fellow scouts to the Order of the Arrw, Scouting’s national society for scout honor campers.

Daniel earned honors both semesters of his sophomore year in high school at MICDS and while a junior, carried a 3.2 GPA.

Daniel also played the French horn in the school band where he was named most improved player his sophomore year. Daniel also participated in the Science Olympiad, taking a regional first and second place in both his sophomore and junior years.

Daniel is an excellent athlete, lettering in varsity soccer and ice hockey his freshman, sophomore and Junior years.

He used his ice hockey skills to help coach a youngster’s hockey team and to teach young children in the “Learn to Play Hockey” program (sponsored by the Missouri Ice Hockey Association).

He also referees hockey games — frequently diplomatically handling emotional coaches and parents.

For his Eagle project, Daniel designed and constructed two dog shelters for the St. Charles Humane Society.

Daniel is as responsible and selfless as a person can be. He does the right thing, not the easy thing and religiously follows the Scout Oath and Law at school, scouts, home and sports.

Daniel’s scouting career has resulted in many honors — honor camper, honor patrol, and perfect attendance award, among others — which have culminated in tonight’s Eagle award. Daniel is also a member of the Bakers. But it is his dedication and the selfless service he has exhibited that has distinguished his Scouting career and provides an excellent role model for others to follow.

Daniel actively served the troop as a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.
