Cody joined Troop 17 in March of 1999 after receiving his Arrow of Light from Cub Pack 498 at Conway Grade School.

In his scouting career, Cody completed the Mile Swim, attended the council’s Junior Leader Training Camp in 2001, served as a Den Chief, Instructor, and is a member of the Bakers, Troop Seventeen’s unique older boy’s organization, rising to Head Baker or president.

Cody’s outdoor activities included attending six years of the troop’s annual summer camp. In recognition of his camping abilities, in 2002, Cody was elected by his fellow Scouts to be an Ordeal member of the Order of the Arrow – a national honorary society for Scout honor campers.

Cody has served as Patrol Leader of the Hawk Patrol for a year following his first leadership position as a Den Chief at Reed School’s Pack 344 in 2002. On his trail to Eagle, Cody earned 25 merit badges — only 21 being required for Eagle and received the World Conservation Award by earning the Environmental Science, Citizenship in the World, and Soil & Water Conservation Merit Badges.

For his Eagle Project, Cody led several scouts in designing and landscaping a house owned and renovated by his church.

Cody’s athletic talents at Ladue High School were notable. He lettered in tennis for all years he participated. As a member of the swim team, Cody was a three-year varsity water polo player — also lettering all years in both sports, serving both teams as varsity captain.

Cody was on the Ladue Racquet Club tennis team for five years and on their swim team for five.

In his service to the community, Cody served as a counselor at the Ladue Chapel Summer Vacation Bible School for four years, is a certified lifeguard, and a “big brother” at Ladue High School.

Cody played violin for the Ladue school orchestras for eight years and was a two-year member of the Conway Choir and five year singer in the Ladue Chapel Choir.

In school, Cody was an excellent student, making the honor roll all four years at Ladue High School.

Cody was an instructor in the troop’s Leadership Corps and a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.

Cody Boehm is a young man who has admirably balanced the major aspects of his life — athletics, academics, church, and scouting.
