Entering Troop 17 in spring of 2013 from Pack 344 of Reed Elementary School, Cade’s Scouting career had been characterized by his progress made despite being away from the troop.

He is currently a student at Missouri Military Academy. Cade’s first leadership position was as the Scribe, later becoming Assistant Senior Patrol Leader at Troop 17. He has retained this leadership position, and he serves as the Senior Patrol Leader, the top leader in Troop 1889 at Missouri Military Academy. Cade has shown himself to be exceptionally confident, dedicated, selfless and responsible.

Cade has also been an active participant in the troop’s outdoor program — including campouts, camporees, hikes, and seven years at summer camp.

Three summers ago, Cade was part of Troop 17’s Scout contingent that summer to Philmont – BSA’s national high-adventure camp in the mountains of New Mexico.

At his church, Ladue Chapel Presbyterian Church, Cade has served as an acolyte, participated in numerous youth Wednesday services, as well as the Urban Plunge.

At Missouri Military Academy, Cade is an exceptional student and a good athlete. As a freshman, he joined the Academy band, and has stayed a member and leader in the band since then. As a sophomore, Cade joined the newly reborn Drill Team known as the “Fusiliers”, and represented MMA at the Military School Band and Choir Festival. In his junior year, he competed on the drill and baseball teams, as well as attended the Band Festival for a second year (earning second chair-Mellophone), where the Academy retained its title as the top military high school in the nation. Now as a Senior, he commands the drill team, and recently competed in his third and final Band Festival (earning second chair-Mellophone). MMA retained its top honors and will compete again next year. On March 21st, Cade will command the MMA drill team at the US Army’s National Drill Competition in Richmond, Virginia. He is also on the baseball team and will be playing first base and some pitching.

For his Eagle service project, Billy – as he is known at MMA – enlisted numerous other Scouts and cadets to help him construct and build a gaga ball pit, which is a form of dodge ball, for the Academy; as a new outlet for the cadets to exercise, teambuilding, and have fun during their free time.

His future plan is to become an Actuary. He is deciding between Drake and University of Missouri.

Cade is standing here tonight to receive his Eagle Badge — earned concurrently while serving as the MMA troop’s Senior Patrol Leader.
